How they work
Fixed braces use brackets and a wire that your orthodontist adjusts every few weeks. Invisalign uses a series of removable clear aligners that you change every one to two weeks, each moving the teeth a small step.
Appearance
Aligners are almost invisible. Ceramic braces are much less noticeable than metal ones but can still be seen up close.
Comfort and daily life
Aligners come out for eating, so there are no food restrictions, and brushing is easy. Braces rule out hard and sticky foods, and cleaning around brackets takes longer. Both can feel tight for a day or two after each change.

This is the big difference. Aligners only work if they are worn about 22 hours a day. Braces work whether you remember them or not, which is why they are often the better choice for younger teenagers.
